Microsoft is grappling with an issue within a Windows 11 update that was rolled out in mid-May. A problem related to insufficient space on the system partition is blocking its installation. The company is advising users to remain on the current operating system version until fixes become available.
A significant number of Windows 11 users are experiencing an inability to install an update intended to boost the operating system’s speed, due to an error. This information comes from the publication ComputerBase.
In the middle of May, Microsoft released an update that introduced a key feature called “Low Latency Mode.” By implementing this feature, Windows gained the capability to enhance performance by selectively increasing processor frequency.
Subsequently, it was discovered by reporters that a substantial quantity of users encountered installation difficulties with this update because of a bug. It turns out that during the download and installation process, the update can be halted. This occurs when the EFI (ESP) system partition has less than 10 megabytes of free space remaining. Consequently, the installation stops at the 35 percent mark, and users are presented with the following message on their screens:
Something went wrong. Undoing changes.
Accompanied by the error code 0x800f0922.
At the present time, a resolution for this problem has not yet been identified. Microsoft representatives have suggested that users temporarily stick with their existing version of Windows 11 until the necessary corrections are incorporated into subsequent updates.
Previously, PCWorld reported that a Windows 11 update had triggered a series of problems on laptops from a well-known brand, HP. Numerous malfunctions have been noted for several months, and neither Microsoft nor HP has yet taken steps to address these issues.
