
Portugal’s national team commenced their preparations for the 2026 World Cup finals on June 1st, as reported by OneFootball.
Under the guidance of head coach Roberto Martínez, the Portuguese squad held their inaugural training session with captain Cristiano Ronaldo in attendance. Meanwhile, the team, currently based in Miami, is still awaiting the arrival of several players from Europe.
“The World Cup mission has begun!” the 41-year-old Ronaldo posted on his social media.
Martínez led the training session with 23 players available. The full squad will be assembled only on June 6th, when Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos will join the team. These players were granted a few extra days of rest following their Champions League victory with PSG.
Portugal is scheduled to play friendly matches against Chile on June 6th and against Nigeria on June 10th. In the group stage of the 2026 World Cup finals, they will face Colombia, Uzbekistan, and DR Congo.
