The undefeated, 29-year-old reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, Ilia Topuria, of Spanish-Georgian descent, shared his reflections on his standing within mixed martial arts.
“I’ve knocked out Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, and Charles Oliveira – legends of the sport who are undeniably headed for the Hall of Fame. What a run, wow! And now, the icing on the cake: I will knock out Justin Gaethje at the White House. It’s precisely these kinds of achievements that distinguish legends from mere world champions,” Topuria stated in an interview with the UFC press service.
The Spanish-Georgian athlete made his professional mixed martial arts debut in April 2015. “El Matador” began his tenure in the North American promotion in October 2020. Ilia’s record boasts 17 victories, with only two decided by the judges’ scorecards, and a flawless slate of no defeats.
