
The statistical supercomputer Opta has updated its predictions for the favorites in the FIFA World Cup. This information was shared on their social media page.
According to the revised forecasting model, the Spanish national team, the current European champions, remains the top favorite for the tournament. Their probability of winning the title is now estimated at 16%, a slight decrease from the previous 16.1%.
Following Spain in the contender rankings are France (12.9%, down from 13%), England (10.8%, compared to 11.2%), and the reigning world champions, Argentina. Their chances of triumph have decreased from 10.4% to 10.1%. Rounding out the top five is Portugal, which has improved its standing to 7.1%, up from the earlier figure of 7%. Additionally, the supercomputer has increased its assessment of Germany’s chances for an eventual victory, from 5.1% to 5.9%.
