BYD has initiated the groundwork for its ultra-fast charging network in Canada, even before any of their vehicles have officially hit the Canadian market.
Previously, BYD unveiled its 1500 kW rapid charging technology. Vehicles equipped with the second-generation Blade battery and a 1000V architecture can gain 400 kilometers of range in just 5 minutes of charging, making the charging experience comparable to refueling a gasoline-powered car. This week, BYD posted a job opening in Toronto for a Business Development Manager focusing on rapid charging to spearhead the local rollout of this network.
Europe is a primary focus for BYD’s ultra-fast charging network, with plans to establish approximately 3,000 stations by the end of next year. Based on an estimated cost of €580,000 per station, the total investment for the European endeavor is projected to be around USD 2 billion.
BYD’s rapid charging network will also be deployed in Australia and New Zealand, while Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa are currently in the planning stages.
Earlier, Sinopec and BYD introduced their jointly developed BYD Flash Charger 2.0, which has been officially put into operation in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province.
