On Saturday, China articulated its “strong displeasure” regarding the US decision to add several prominent Chinese corporations to a Pentagon roster detailing firms purportedly bolstering the nation’s military capabilities, according to information from Reuters.

The revised compilation features some of China’s leading firms in technology and manufacturing, such as Alibaba, Baidu, BYD, and NIO. Subsequently, the Pentagon further included solar panel manufacturers Trina Solar and JA Solar Technology in this list.
China’s Ministry of Commerce has declared its firm opposition to such actions and implored Washington to reverse its determination.
“China expresses strong displeasure and firmly opposes this,” stated the ministry in its official communication. The department also called upon the United States to withdraw these measures and revert to what it characterized as constructive and stable bilateral relations.
The ministry issued a warning that Beijing would implement retaliatory measures if Chinese enterprises do not receive equitable treatment.
This updated Pentagon roster supersedes a prior version released earlier in the year and emerges approximately one month after the meeting in Beijing between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, where both sides managed to maintain a delicate trade truce.
According to China’s Ministry of Commerce, the latest maneuvers by the American side undermine the agreements that were reached during the summit between the two heads of state.
The Pentagon’s list encompasses entities that US authorities believe are connected to the Chinese military or contribute to its defense industrial base.
Under US legislation, the Department of Defense will be barred from entering into direct contractual agreements with companies appearing on this list. Restrictions on procuring their products and services through intermediaries are slated to take effect in 2027.
The inclusion of several of China’s largest technology companies, electric vehicle manufacturers, and solar panel producers on this list underscores the persistent friction between Washington and Beijing concerning matters of national security, technological supremacy, and industrial strategy.
