
The Egyptian national team and Cairo club Al-Ahly player, Emam Ashour, has been recognized as the best player of the match in the first round of the World Cup group stage. This was reported by the official portal of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
The Group G match took place on Monday in Seattle, USA, and concluded with a 1-1 draw. Ashour himself opened the scoring in the 19th minute of the encounter. This goal marked the first for the 28-year-old midfielder while playing for his national team. In total, the Egyptian player has participated in 30 matches for the squad.
The 2026 World Cup is being held for the first time with the participation of 48 national teams. The tournament is being hosted by three countries: the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
