On June 15th, Cape Verde and Spain played to a goalless draw (0:0) in their opening group stage match of the 2026 World Cup. The African team’s players committed only a single foul throughout the entire game. Opta reports that this is an all-time record for a World Cup competition.
The 2026 World Cup is being hosted in Mexico, the United States, and Canada from June 11th to July 19th. Within the group stage, both Cape Verde and Spain have two more matches remaining. Their other opponents in the group will be the national teams of Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.
