At the Huawei Developer Conference 2026, the company unveiled its first commercial desktop computer powered by HarmonyOS. This new device is intended for government agencies, the financial sector, energy companies, and other corporate entities.
The official rollout of commercial PCs running on HarmonyOS is slated for September 2026. This announcement was made by Zhu Dongdong, President of Huawei’s Tablet and PC Business Unit, during the HarmonyOS Office thematic session. He indicated that testing and pilot operations for these new systems will commence in July and August.
Huawei views this initiative as a significant step in the evolution of its proprietary software ecosystem. Previously, HarmonyOS was primarily featured on smartphones and tablets; however, the company now plans to aggressively promote its desktop and laptop offerings under the HarmonyOS banner.
For the business market, Huawei has already developed the HM740 and HM940 laptops. The HM740 boasts a 14.2-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a slim 14.5mm metallic chassis, and weighs 1.32 kg. The manufacturer claims up to 21 hours of battery life. One of its notable software features is the separation of work and personal data through a digital dual-space mode.
Specific details regarding the HarmonyOS-powered desktop PCs remain undisclosed. Huawei has not yet revealed the processor, memory configurations, or pricing for these upcoming systems. However, an image of such a system has already been shared by Chinese blogger Li Dakhammer.
