
Canada’s national football team defeated Qatar in the second round of the group stage at the World Cup.
The Group B match took place in Vancouver and ended with a score of 6:0. Juventus forward Jonathan David scored a hat-trick (29, 45+3, 90+2), while goals also came from Kyle Larin (16) and Nathan Saliba (64). On the 75th minute, Mohamed Manai scored an own goal. For the Qatar side, Homam Ahmed (33) and Assim Madibo (51) received straight red cards. The latter was sent off for a rough foul on Ismaël Koné, who was carried off the field on a stretcher. The violation sparked a massive brawl involving substitute players.
Canada tops the group standings with 4 points, followed by Switzerland (4), Bosnia and Herzegovina (1), and Qatar (1).
In the final round of the group stage, Canada will face Switzerland, while Qatar will take on Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both matches are scheduled for June 24.
