In the U.S. state of New Jersey, 36-year-old former teacher Ashley Fisler has been hit with new charges in a case involving the sexual abuse of a minor student. This was reported by the New York Post. The woman was arrested back in March.
According to the investigation, Fisler began grooming a 13-year-old student in 2021 and continued to assault him over the course of a year, both on school grounds and inside her car. Initially, she was charged with six counts of statutory rape of a minor, as well as child abuse and official misconduct. On June 24, prosecutors brought additional charges—namely, the production and possession of child sexual abuse material.
Investigators obtained an extensive correspondence between Fisler and the victim, totaling 7,500 pages. In several messages, the teenager wrote that the teacher had “broken his will.” Fisler’s lawyers argue that these statements were taken out of context. If convicted on all counts, the woman faces up to 200 years in prison.
