Citing sources from the publication, the deficit in computing power has caused delays in the execution of several internal AI projects at Meta. While other Google clients were also affected by these limitations, Meta suffered the most due to its exceptionally high demand for Gemini models.
As a result, the company reportedly advised its employees to use AI tokens—units representing the extent of artificial intelligence model usage—more sparingly.
Even the largest technology companies continue to face a shortage of computing resources, despite investing billions of dollars in graphics processors and the construction of new data centers. Previously, Google CEO Sundar Pichai also stated that it was precisely the lack of computing power that prevented Google Cloud from achieving even higher growth rates in the first quarter.
