Microsoft is currently testing a new feature for Windows 11 that enables cloud-based system recovery. This feature is called Cloud Rebuild, and it restores a Windows 11 PC to a clean, guaranteed working state by performing a complete OS reinstallation, even if Windows fails to boot. At least, that’s how Microsoft itself describes the functionality.
Unlike the standard PC reset feature, Cloud Rebuild downloads not only the Windows 11 image itself but also the necessary drivers, ensuring the computer is fully operational after the restoration process. This procedure requires an internet connection via Ethernet or Wi-Fi from within the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE).
At present, this feature is being tested in the experimental Windows Insider channel. When it will become available to the general public remains unknown.
