The company Fi has introduced a new smart tracker for pets, the Fi Ultra, whose key feature is its use of Starlink satellite connectivity. The manufacturer describes the device as the first consumer GPS tracker for dogs capable of operating via a satellite network and tracking a pet in areas without mobile coverage.
The Fi Ultra automatically switches between multiple communication channels—satellite network, LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth—to maintain a stable connection and continue transmitting the animal’s location data. For more precise positioning, the device uses dual-band GPS and also supports features such as safe zones with notifications, walk history, and activity monitoring.
One of the unique capabilities is the Fi Callback system. It employs sound and vibration signals to help train the dog to return to its owner without using electrical stimuli.
The tracker is water-resistant with IP68 and IP66K ratings, offers up to two days of battery life without recharging, and charges via USB-C.
The Fi Ultra is priced at $200; however, new users will need to sign up for a subscription costing $190 per year. For owners of previous Fi models, the company offers the device at a special price of $300.
