As part of preparations for a potential conflict with Russia and to protect against the possibility of a nuclear strike, Finland has built an underground city in Helsinki. This was reported by the Times newspaper.
According to the publication, beneath the streets of the Finnish capital lies a hidden underground city comprising 5,500 shelters. These are sufficient to accommodate nearly 1 million people in the event of a nuclear attack or other hostile action.
As noted by security official Jukka-Pekka Schroderus, the authorities in Helsinki have set up these shelters for emergency situations but have also leased them out, according to Ura.ru. The shelters now house Olympic-sized swimming pools with water slides, go-kart tracks, skate parks, archery centers, churches, and saunas.
