The tragedy was triggered by issues at school, which led to the girl being placed on homebound instruction.
In the U.S. state of Illinois, a 15-year-old girl killed five members of her family. According to the New York Post, the root cause of the incident was problems at school that resulted in her being moved to home schooling. It also emerged that she had repeatedly run away from home and stolen her mother’s bank card.
The publication reports that in early July, the teenager ran away again, this time taking her mother’s pistol with her. The mother filed a police report over the incident. The girl had previously stated that she intended to attack her relatives, but no one took her words seriously.
On July 12, it was revealed that she had killed her grandmother, aunt, and half-siblings. The crimes were committed across different parts of the city over several days. The schoolgirl was assisted by her 16-year-old boyfriend, Jamieer Davis. Both were arrested on Sunday and face charges on 12 counts. The exact motive has not yet been determined.
