For the winning side, Luis Suárez found the net in the 27th and 51st minutes, with Preston Plumbek adding a third in the 87th. Suárez’s first goal came from the penalty spot. The losing team’s lone goal was scored by Puso Diedhein in the 67th minute. The match’s opening goal arrived in the 18th minute when Inter Miami goalkeeper Rocco Rios Novo mishit the ball following a teammate’s pass, resulting in an own goal being credited to the keeper.
Polish striker Robert Lewandowski made his debut for Chicago, playing 62 minutes without registering any goal involvements. His MLS debut was originally scheduled for July 17, but that match against Vancouver was canceled due to poor air quality caused by wildfires in Canada. Lewandowski had joined the American club on June 29, signing a contract that runs through the 2027/28 season. Prior to his move, he had been with Spain’s Barcelona since the summer of 2022.
