Apple Launches the Apple Upgrade Leasing Program: Expanded Device Access with Flexible Terms
Apple has unveiled its new leasing program, Apple Upgrade, which is now available in the United States and replaces the previous iPhone Upgrade program. Customers can now rent the company’s devices for an extended period with the option to purchase them later.
The program covers iPhone smartphones and Apple Watch smartwatches. Currently, only two‑year leasing options are available, but 12‑month plans will be introduced later. For example, the monthly payment for an iPhone 17 Pro is 31.99,andforaniPhone Pro Max —34.99. Renting an Apple Watch Series 11 costs 11.99permonth,whiletheUltra 3modelincollaborationwithHermeˋscosts47.03 per month.
In addition, customers can lease iPad tablets and MacBook laptops. Currently, the lease term is 36 months, but Apple plans to offer 24‑month contracts in the future. The monthly fee for a MacBook Air starts at 24.99,andforaMacBook Pro —at38.99. For iPads, the cost ranges from 11.99(Miniversion)to24.99 (Pro version). In the future, the program will include Mac desktop computers and Mac Studio.
According to Nikkei, Apple plans to release five new iPhone models by 2027.
Earlier reports indicated that the company intends to strengthen its position in the smart home market: updated Apple TV and HomePod mini models are expected in the fall. These new products will help Apple compete with players such as Amazon and Google, which already hold a significant share of this market segment.
