The Quali Springs wildfire, which broke out in Lincoln County, Nevada, on July 25, was partially contained by July 30, according to Fox5Vegas, citing the Bureau of Land Management.
The fire was sparked by lightning and has burned approximately 5,256.9 hectares. As of the latest report, 7 % of the fire has been contained. It has spread across Bureau of Land Management lands and the restricted Nevada Test and Training Range, which is closed to the public. No evacuations were required, and no buildings are currently threatened.
Notably, Area 51 — a highly classified US Air Force facility — is located within this restricted training range.
At the same time, other wildfires are causing widespread impacts across North America. According to Reuters (July 16), air quality in Toronto, Canada, was ranked the worst among major cities worldwide due to smoke from wildfires burning in sparsely populated areas hundreds of kilometers away. Residents were advised to limit their time outdoors. Despite the distance, the smoke has traveled over a vast area and has even reached New York City.
