A bear broke into a home in the U.S. and stole a bucket of KFC fried chicken from the table, Dangerous Minds reports.
The incident took place on August 13 in Kentucky. According to local resident Kendra North, the predator entered her home around 5:00 a.m. through a loosely closed door, drawn by the scent of food left on the table. Her sister, who lives next door, was awake and witnessed the bear’s visit.
At first, the sister heard a loud crash—the bear had smashed the glass dining table to get to the chicken and eat it. The noise was so loud that she thought an accident had occurred nearby. Upon seeing the bear leave her sister’s house, she tried calling North, but North rejected the call twice before finally answering. “There’s a bear here, and it just walked out of your house,” the sister said, adding that the animal had looked her straight in the eye.
North later admitted that she wasn’t so much scared as she was upset about losing the food. “I’m a little bummed about my KFC,” she said. The bear was estimated to weigh between 230 and 270 kilograms.
John Hast, a representative of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, noted that wild animals are very clever; once they find an easy meal, they are sure to return. He advised rural residents not to leave food outdoors or in plain sight.
Previously, in Anchorage, Alaska, a brown bear attacked a woman who had gone for a run in the woods. She was running alone on a trail and managed to fend off the predator using pepper spray.
