The Nevada Transportation Authority unanimously approved permits allowing Tesla, Uber, and Waymo to operate commercial robotaxi services in Clark County (home to Las Vegas). Over the next 12 months, these companies could deploy a combined total of up to 8,000 autonomous vehicles. Specifically, Tesla is allowed up to 5,000 robotaxis, Waymo up to 1,000, and Uber (operating through partnerships with Motional and Zoox) also up to 1,000. While this represents a significant step toward mass adoption, industry observers note that actual deployment may proceed more gradually due to technical and operational challenges.
