In the Swedish town of Fagersta, an 18-year-old recent graduate of a local school carried out an armed attack on the institution using a sword. At least three teenagers were injured in the incident, and the attacker was taken into custody. The broadcaster SVT reported the news.
Jonas Söderberg, head of social services and healthcare for the Västmanland region, confirmed that two victims had been hospitalized with serious injuries. The condition of the third injured person was unclear at the time of transport. It was later revealed that two of the teenagers were in stable condition, with one requiring emergency surgery.
The attack took place on Friday afternoon. Police arrived promptly at the scene and neutralized the assailant by shooting him in the leg. Swedish media report that the detained individual was previously known to social services and had been under psychiatric care due to issues with aggression control. He had a prior record involving an assault on a student.
To check for potential accomplices, a national operational unit conducted searches of the school building and the suspect’s residence.
