A Chinese startup has unveiled the Qiji X1, a quadrupedal robotic horse. The device was presented at the World Robot Conference in Beijing. According to its creators, the robot can be ridden. It is also capable of transporting cargo across rough terrain—though skeptics have questioned the feasibility of this—according to China Daily (CD).
“Designed for premium off-road leisure, it transforms artificial intelligence from lines of code on a screen into a real, rideable device,” News.ru reported, citing the project’s description.
The robot can support a load of up to 300 kilograms. It has a top speed of 10 kilometers per hour and a range of 40 kilometers on a single charge. The developers claim the machine can navigate mud, gravel, and even slopes.
