The French Professional Football League (LFP) has fined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) €150,000 for rescheduling their Ligue 1 match against Rennes.
The match, originally scheduled for August 23 at PSG’s home ground as part of the opening round of the season, was moved to Rennes due to the poor condition of the pitch at the Parc des Princes.
“The competitions commission decided to fine PSG €150,000 in accordance with LFP regulations outlining club obligations regarding pitch conditions and the availability of a backup stadium,” the LFP stated on its website.
The league also announced that the return fixture—scheduled for Matchday 23—will take place at the Parc des Princes.
Rennes stated on its official website that it might appeal the decision to move the match to the French National Olympic Committee in order to “protect its rights.”
