The Trimbos Institute, a Dutch organization specializing in mental health and addiction, has issued a warning regarding the dangers of ecstasy pills shaped like the head of U.S. President Donald Trump, CBS reports.
Experts discovered that the pills contain high levels of para-methoxymethamphetamine (a dangerous synthetic stimulant and psychedelic belonging to the amphetamine class). Because the substance acts slowly, users may not feel the effects immediately, thereby increasing the risk of overdose. This can lead to epileptic seizures, loss of consciousness, or heart problems.
The institute noted that while there have been no reported cases of harm caused by these specific pills so far, it strongly urged people not to consume them. A photo of the pills published on Trimbos’s social media channels shows them in various colors; one side depicts the American leader’s head, while the other features the inscriptions “NL” and “Trump” on either side of a vertical line.
The production, sale, and use of ecstasy are illegal in the Netherlands; however, the drug is prevalent in clubs and at music festivals.
