A woman armed with a knife stabbed Bank of America Vice President Erin Piacenti to death in New York’s Times Square. Bloomberg reported the incident on September 1.

“Piacenti suffered a stab wound to the abdomen during an unprovoked attack near 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue. She died of her injuries at the hospital,” Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch was quoted as saying in the report.
The attacker was identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros. Just minutes before attacking Piacenti, she had stabbed a 68-year-old man in the abdomen after he exited the subway at West 41st Street; he was hospitalized.
Police officers arriving at the scene used Tasers when Cisneros approached them with a knife; two officers then opened fire, wounding her. The assailant was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
It is noted that she had no criminal record, though department records document two prior incidents involving mental health issues in 2018 and 2019.
Piacenti served as a vice president for business vetting and conflict-of-interest resolution at Bank of America. She had celebrated her second wedding anniversary just weeks before the tragedy, on August 10.
