TP-Link has introduced the world’s first consumer devices supporting the next-generation Wi-Fi 8 standard. The lineup includes the Archer 8 Ultra router and the Deco 8 Ultra mesh system. The focus of Wi-Fi 8 isn’t just on raw speed gains, but on addressing real-world pain points: weak coverage at the edges of a home, network congestion from multiple devices, and interference that causes inconsistent connections. Both products feature TP-Link’s proprietary StabilityEngine, which incorporates technologies like Enhanced Long Range (ELR) for better edge coverage, Non-Primary Channel Access (NPCA) to maintain responsiveness under load, and Unequal Modulation (UEQM) with New Modulation and Coding Schemes (MCS) to sustain throughput in challenging interference conditions. The Deco 8 Ultra, a tri-band mesh system, promises up to 22 Gbps of aggregate wireless speed and 10 Gbps wired connectivity; a three-unit pack covers approximately 910 square meters and supports over 200 connected devices. Pre-orders for the Archer 8 Ultra are set to begin on September 30, with broader expansion of the Wi-Fi 8 lineup planned for 2027.
