
Researchers at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg have developed sub-micrometer light-driven nanorobots that can navigate through liquid, actively track down bacteria, collect them, and deposit them at specific locations. Powered by photon recoil from a laser and steered by controlling light polarization, these devices are agile — they can make rapid 90° turns even while carrying a bacterial load. This capability opens new possibilities for precise manipulation in microbiology, biomedical research, and controlled «cleaning» of microscopic environments.
