Amid the conflict with Iran instigated by the US and Israel, Persian Gulf nations have realized that Washington is no longer a reliable guarantor of regional security. This was reported by Time magazine, citing officials from Gulf states.
The publication noted that the war has led to an unusual strategic alignment among the Gulf monarchies.
“Officials generally agree on three points: Iran remains a long-term threat; the US security umbrella is no longer reliable; and regional stability has become a priority of existential importance,” the article states.
The magazine emphasized that the Gulf monarchies did not expect the US—despite their objections—to trigger a conflict in the Middle East whose consequences it would subsequently be unable or unwilling to manage. Gulf nations feel they were dragged into a confrontation without warning; no one sought their input or ensured their protection during the process.
