Facebook* has suffered a major outage, with over 17,000 users reporting problems in the last hour, according to data from Downdetector.
The majority of complaints concerned the web version of the service: 66% of users encountered issues on the site, while 12% reported problems with the app and 14% were unable to log in to their accounts.
At the same time, users reported issues with Instagram*. Over 5,000 people flagged problems with the platform; 66% of the complaints related to the website, 15% to the mobile app, and 11% to login issues.
At the time the reports emerged, the cause of the outage and the timeline for the full restoration of services had not been specified.
