At the annual Meta Connect 2026 conference, CEO Mark Zuckerberg shifted focus from the metaverse entirely to real-world AI hardware and wearables. The headline of the event was the official debut of camera-free Ray-Ban smart glasses combined with Meta’s new autonomous AI agent, Muse. This design actively addresses growing public privacy concerns regarding public recording. Muse is positioned as a personal superintelligence that handles everything from parsing health insurance data to automatically booking restaurants and editing custom podcasts right from your eyewear. Additionally, Meta introduced a ultra-lightweight standalone $1,299 VR device shaped like normal glasses.
