The expansion of US nuclear capabilities could lead to a catastrophic disaster. This warning was issued in a memorandum from the North Korean Foreign Ministry, released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
“If US actions regarding the vertical and horizontal proliferation of nuclear technologies continue to go unchecked, Pandora’s box will be thrown wide open, and a catastrophic nuclear disaster will loom over humanity,” the KCNA quoted the Foreign Ministry as saying.
Pyongyang accused Washington of abandoning disarmament commitments, expanding its own nuclear arsenal, and transferring relevant technologies to its allies.
The document also highlights the development of cooperation within the AUKUS framework. According to the North Korean Foreign Ministry, the US is attempting to recruit new participants—including Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, and Canada—to transform the initiative into the world’s largest nuclear-powered submarine alliance, both in name and in substance.
Earlier, US leader Donald Trump stated that he was unconcerned by contacts between Russia and Iran—specifically the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian regarding nuclear issues. Meanwhile, during his meeting with Pezeshkian, Putin emphasized the high level of relations between the two nations and noted the significant importance of cooperation between Moscow and Tehran in the humanitarian sphere.
