Stargazers around the globe are in for an exceptional treat as the annual Orionid meteor shower officially begins today. This stunning astronomical display occurs as Earth transitions through a thick field of cosmic debris left behind by the famous Halley’s Comet. Even though the comet itself remains deep in the outer solar system and will not return until 2061, the tiny particles it left in its wake will flash brilliantly across the upper atmosphere from dusk until dawn all through the month.
