In Pennsylvania, two people have been charged with kidnapping a woman following a botched drug deal. An unexpected turn of events helped the victim escape: one of the alleged kidnappers was bitten by a snake, AOL reports.
According to police, 30-year-old Evan Pletcher and 23-year-old Chelsea Probst had arranged to buy drugs through the victim and another man, but the goods were never delivered.
The suspects allegedly abducted the woman by force and demanded a refund. Investigators claim she was driven out of town, where she was beaten, burned with cigarettes, stabbed, and had her phone taken away.
En route, Pletcher—who was reportedly driving—stepped out of the car and was bitten by a snake. He required urgent medical attention as a result.
The suspects arrived at a medical center with the kidnapped woman. There, she managed to contact her relatives, prompting police intervention.
Pletcher and Probst were taken into custody and charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault.
