Earth is actively bracing for a major solar storm today following two powerful coronal mass ejections (CMEs) launched by the Sun. The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued an official watch for a moderate G2 geomagnetic storm. The space weather event originated from highly active sunspot regions, including AR4549, which has been popping off continuous solar flares over the last few days. While the arrival of these double plasma clouds triggers breathtaking aurora displays visible through the clouds in multiple regions worldwide, space scientists warn it could also temporarily affect satellite operations, high-frequency radio communications, and global navigation systems.
