Astrophysicists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory are keeping a close watch on the sky as two newly found asteroids, 2026 TG9 and 2026 TP6, prepare to make exceptionally close encounters hours apart. Data shows that both space rocks are roughly house-sized, measuring up to 75 feet across. Crucially, the NASA asteroid flyby alert highlights that both objects will safely drift well inside the Moon’s orbit, coming as close as 136,000 miles from the surface. While too faint for standard backyard telescopes, their sudden discovery serves as a routine reminder of how many small rocks populate Earth’s direct space neighborhood.
