A catastrophic explosion and subsequent fast-moving grass fire at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Wainwright have left four service members dead and dozens more severely injured. Fueled by extreme winds reaching up to 60 mph, the flames advanced rapidly across the training grounds. Emergency response teams deployed 22 ground ambulances and 8 air ambulances to transport victims to major regional trauma centers, where 19 people remain in critical condition. Preliminary military investigations suggest a munition from a live training exercise sparked the initial blaze.
