Pharmaceutical innovators Moderna and Merck have announced positive Phase III results for intismeran autogene, the world’s first fully personalized mRNA cancer vaccine. Tailored uniquely to the specific genetic mutations of an individual’s tumor, the vaccine works by training the human immune system to proactively destroy residual malignant cells. When administered alongside the immunotherapy drug Keytruda, the combination therapy radically reduced melanoma recurrence rates, validating the mRNA platform for many other solid tumor applications.
