Google Quantum AI researchers have achieved a major breakthrough using the company’s Willow quantum processor. Scientists successfully reduced a critical category of quantum computing errors by approximately forty times, bringing the industry closer to practical fault-tolerant quantum computing.
The achievement focuses on so-called “magic states,” a key requirement for complex quantum calculations. Experts believe the advancement represents one of the most important steps forward in quantum error correction and could accelerate the path toward commercially useful quantum systems.
