Developers of the popular WhatsApp messenger are preparing another update, which concerns the protection of children’s accounts. The WABetaInfo resource reports this.
This concerns another beta version of the WhatsApp application for Android smartphones, in which a feature for parental monitoring of their child’s account settings will appear. However, access to the child’s private correspondence will be closed to the parent.
Thus, in the fresh beta version of the application, internet enthusiasts discovered information about a development, according to which two accounts—parent and child—could be linked. The former can be primary, and the latter secondary. The latter is created separately and immediately receives several default restrictions.
One of the key limitations is communication with strangers: by default, the secondary account will only be able to receive messages and calls from the contacts list. Additionally, the child’s account can share limited activity data with the adult. But there is no information yet about what this will include, nor about the launch timeline for the new functionality.
