
The Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport plans to seek multi-million euro compensation from those implicated in the sabotage incident on the railway lines near Bologna. This was announced by the ministry’s press office.
“Once the responsible parties are identified, the ministry will file a claim for compensation covering the multi-million euro damages incurred,” the ministry’s statement reads, as quoted by RIA Novosti. The event is being treated as a threat to national security, and the assessment of its ramifications is ongoing in collaboration with relevant agencies and rail network operators.
The acts of sabotage occurred on essential segments of the railway infrastructure in the Bologna vicinity, affecting both passenger services and, according to initial reports, certain freight transport operations. These attacks resulted in widespread train delays, the cancellation of numerous services, and scheduling disruptions, leading to thousands of travelers experiencing prolonged waits and necessitating alterations to their travel plans.
