Nikita Kucherov, the Russian forward for the Tampa Bay Lightning, tallied three points during the NHL regular season game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, which Tampa Bay won 4-2.
Thanks to scoring one goal and recording two assists, the forward moved into sole possession of second place in the current NHL scoring race, surpassing Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche.
Kucherov now boasts 94 points (30 goals and 64 assists) in 52 games played, while MacKinnon has 93 points (40 goals and 53 assists) through 55 games. Connor McDavid, the forward for the Edmonton Oilers, remains the current points leader with 97 points (34 goals and 63 assists).
