The head of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), Mohammed Ben Sulayem, shared his thoughts regarding the commencement of hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran.
On Saturday, February 28th, joint military forces of the US and Israel executed strikes within Iranian territory, simultaneously announcing the launch of an operation against the Islamic Republic.
“In my capacity as FIA President, my thoughts are with everyone impacted by the recent occurrences in the Middle East. We are profoundly saddened by the loss of life and extend our solidarity to the affected families and communities. Our deepest wish is for tranquility, security, and a swift return to a stable situation,” Sulayem posted on his social media channels.
Furthermore, Sulayem noted that the FIA is maintaining close communication with its member clubs, championship promoters, competing teams, and other associated partners, carefully monitoring the progression of the situation with due diligence.
The Formula 1 races scheduled for Bahrain and Saudi Arabia—nations situated in areas affected by the US military action—are slated to take place from April 11th to 13th and April 18th to 20th, respectively. The very next Formula 1 Grand Prix is set to occur in Australia. Free Practice sessions are scheduled for March 14th and 15th, with qualifying following on March 15th as well. The main 58-lap race itself will be contested on March 16th.
