Recently, Windows 11 users have encountered an unforeseen behavior: the Microsoft Edge browser now initiates automatically every time the operating system boots up. This occurrence is being reported by Windows Central.
According to the publication, experts noticed that Microsoft has commenced trials for a new feature within its OS. Following a recent update, a significant number of users voiced discontent because the Edge browser unexpectedly began opening upon every system start.
Upon the desktop interface loading, Edge automatically brings up a startup window. The application will keep launching itself unless the device owner selects the “No, thanks” option, which serves to prevent this recurring launch.
Journalists observed that it remains unclear whether this feature only becomes active when Edge is designated as the default browser. Based on their observations, Microsoft is rolling out this modification to only a select group of users. The implications of this adjustment are currently undetermined, and this new element is not mentioned in the documentation for recent Windows releases.
Previously, a Microsoft representative, Raymond Chen, offered clarification:
Updates are not invariably the source of malfunctions within Windows. He emphasized that sometimes pre-existing issues within the OS merely become more conspicuous subsequent to the installation of new patches.
