Nikita Kucherov, the Russian forward for the Tampa Bay Lightning, is in contention for the National Hockey League’s (NHL) award for the season’s top player.
He has made the final three for the Ted Lindsay Award, an accolade bestowed upon the most outstanding player of the season, determined by votes from members of the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA). Alongside him, the other nominees are Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers and Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks.
During the regular season, Kucherov accumulated an impressive 130 points (44 goals and 86 assists) across 76 games.
On April 27th, following the fourth game in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Montreal Canadiens, Kucherov secured sole possession of second place on the all-time leading playoff scorer list among Russian players. This contest took place in Montreal and concluded with a 3-2 victory for Tampa Bay. That result tied the series score at two games apiece.
