Donald Trump asserted that the renovation of the Washington reflecting pool, completed under his tenure, was substantially less costly and quicker to execute than comparable restoration efforts undertaken during Joe Biden’s presidency.
The former American head of state disseminated this statement via his platform, [Truth Social]. Trump shared two visual representations of the reflecting pool situated between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
One picture depicted the site in a deteriorated condition—featuring opaque water and a partially drained bottom. This image was captioned, claiming the Biden administration’s overhaul cost \$355 million and required three and a half years to complete.
Trump then presented the second photograph, characterizing it as the achievement of his own team. The post maintained that refreshing the feature cost merely 2 million dollars and was finished within one week.
It is not the first time the U.S. President has voiced criticism regarding the upkeep of Washington’s landmarks, likening their appearance to that of a swamp. Back in April, he had also circulated images of the reflecting pool exhibiting green-tinted water, holding prior administrations accountable for deficient maintenance.
Trump noted that the authorities opted to alter the pool’s lining material to achieve a deeper, more vibrant blue color for the water. He attributed this change to complaints from residents and visitors regarding the appearance of one of the capital city’s most iconic attractions.
The reflecting pool adjacent to the National Mall in Washington is regarded as one of the city’s premier tourist destinations and is frequently employed for official functions, commemorative rituals, and large public gatherings.
