A thirteen-year-old Husky dog has been reunited with its owner in the USA after being missing for 12 years, according to People magazine.
“Thirteen-year-old Sierra, a Husky, was reunited with her owner this April, more than a decade after she disappeared, thanks to a microchip,” the publication reports.
The article details that the Husky went missing in 2014 while her owner was moving from New Mexico to Texas. After more than 12 years living on the streets, she was rescued by a shelter in Florida this April, a location over 2,200 kilometers away from her original home.
Shelter staff discovered a microchip implanted in Sierra. The dog was discovered in very poor condition, but the chip allowed them to contact the man, who had given up hope of seeing his pet again, leading to the Husky’s eventual return home.
