Google has commenced rolling out an update for Google TV, enhancing the control capabilities of its integrated AI, Gemini, over television settings. Users can now adjust device preferences through voice commands, employing natural language.
Simply instruct your TV, for instance, “I can’t hear what’s happening,” or “This scene is too dim to see anything,” and your television will automatically make the necessary adjustments to its picture and sound.
The system permits modifications to brightness, contrast, volume, and various picture and sound modes. You could, for example, request the activation of sports mode, an increase in bass, or automatic optimization of settings tailored to specific content like movies or games. Furthermore, the AI can diagnose image or sound issues and suggest remedies based on the user’s verbal description of the problem.
Initially, this feature is exclusive to select TCL televisions equipped with Google TV and is operational in the United States on models manufactured for 2025-2026. Support begins with the QM9K, QM7L, RM7L, X11L, QM9L, QM8L, and RM9L models, with plans to extend to new devices and brands subsequently.
Compatibility requires Android 14 or a later version.
