This malware steals cryptocurrency from users of the Windows operating system.
The malicious program infects a computer through a USB device, then quietly replaces wallet addresses during transactions and can also access other personal data. Researchers have named the new virus Clipper; it has been active since at least February 2026.
As security measures, Microsoft recommends that users follow several basic rules. First and foremost, disable the autorun feature for USB drives in system settings. Additionally, exercise caution when using other people’s flash drives—do not open suspicious files or folders. Moreover, experts advise carefully checking the crypto wallet address before sending money to avoid accidentally transferring funds to scammers.
