Spain’s national football team defeated Saudi Arabia in their second group stage match of the 2026 World Cup, which is being held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Group H encounter took place in Atlanta, USA, and ended with a 4-0 victory for the Spaniards. Mikel Oyarzabal scored a brace (21st and 24th minutes), Lamine Yamal contributed one goal (10th minute), and Hassan Al-Tambakti added an own goal (49th minute).
Yamal became only the second player under the age of 18 to score the opening goal in a World Cup match, following 17-year-old Brazilian Pelé, who achieved this feat in 1958. For Yamal, the game against Saudi Arabia marked his first World Cup appearance as a starter.
Spain sits at the top of the group table with 4 points, followed by Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and Cape Verde, each with 1 point.
In the final round, Spain will face Uruguay, while Saudi Arabia will take on Cape Verde. Both matches are scheduled for the night of June 27th Moscow time. The World Cup will conclude on July 19th.
